The Challenge

The logistics industry is one of the more difficult environments for organic growth. Established competitors controlled the lion’s share of commercial search real estate, years of domain authority, deep backlink profiles, and strong branded search behaviour. At launch, the client had none of that: zero domain authority, no historical search presence, minimal brand recognition, and no inherited backlink equity.

Competing head-on for high-volume transactional keywords would have meant a slow, resource-intensive battle on terrain already owned by larger, more established players. The client needed a different way in.

The Approach

Rather than competing directly for the same commercial search terms as established players, the strategy shifted from a keyword-first mindset to a topic-first model: instead of asking “what keywords should we rank for?”, the question became “what knowledge ecosystem should we own?”

This meant building a structured knowledge repository, far more than a conventional blog, designed around informational search intent, underserved topic clusters, and the full range of how buyers in logistics actually research before they convert. Internal linking was treated as a strategic asset rather than a navigational afterthought, connecting pages by topical relevance to compound authority across the site rather than leaving it isolated on individual pages.

The strategy also adapted early to AI-driven search and answer engines (AEO), structuring content around direct-answer formatting, semantic clarity, and snippet-friendly patterns, treating the rise of AI search as an opportunity rather than a threat to organic visibility.

The Results

Over roughly thirteen months, the strategy produced sustained, compounding growth across both search visibility and keyword breadth, not short-term spikes, but a steady upward trajectory built entirely through organic execution, with no paid amplification.

Clicks and impressions both climbed from a standing start in late 2024 to a sustained weekly run-rate in the hundreds of clicks and hundreds of thousands of impressions by late 2025, totalling 23.1k organic clicks and 11.7 million organic impressions over the period. Rather than short-term spikes from isolated rankings, the growth compounded steadily across an expanding range of search queries, reflecting the broader topical authority strategy taking hold.

The organic keyword footprint grew from a handful of tracked terms to approximately 1,600 ranking keywords, with a growing share earning SERP features such as featured snippets along the way, a strong signal for visibility within AI and answer-engine search experiences, and a direct reflection of the semantic and AEO-focused approach behind the strategy. As the keyword footprint expanded, a meaningful share of that growth came from informational, research-stage queries rather than narrow transactional terms alone, meaning the website was earning visibility earlier in the buyer’s journey, increasing the volume of qualified, intent-driven traffic positioned to convert further down the line.
